Solid-core bathroom panels: 6mm and 9mm, without the jargon

← All guides

Knock a hollow panel and it sounds like a panel. Knock a solid-core board and it sounds like a wall. That is the difference homeowners notice, long after they have forgotten the millimetre number.

6mm Aqua Wall

Stone polymer composite, solid through the board, in large-format sizes that keep joints few. This is the Signature range. The introductory offer puts that edition at £6,999.

9mm solid core

Our Bespoke panel specification. Heavier, thicker, and the top of the panelled range at £9,999, with a 10-year workmanship and materials guarantee on that edition. Choose it because you want that substance, not because someone said thicker is automatically luxurious.

On the panelled quote tool each edition shows a full panel swatch, so you can compare the board itself before you compare the room.

FAQ

Quick answers

Does thicker always mean better?+

Thicker usually means a more solid feel and a different board construction. A badly fitted 9mm panel will still leak at the joint. Thickness is not a substitute for the install.

Can I have a feature wall in a different panel?+

On Signature and Bespoke, yes. The feature wall can be any other panel in that range — Taranaki on the main walls and Olympus Matt on one wall, for example — or none at all.

Are the boards suitable for a shower?+

Yes. They are specified as waterproof wet-room panels, jointed as a system. They are not decorative sheets stuck over old tiles.
