Bathroom quote red flags: ten signs the price is not real
Homeowners in Burnley are shown three numbers and told to pick. The numbers are rarely the same job. A red flag is anything that makes the real cost appear after the bathroom is already in pieces.
Watch for these
- —No site visit, just a price from WhatsApp photos
- —No named tray, panel, toilet or tap
- —Electrics described as “by others”
- —Waste and skip left for you
- —“From” with no explanation of what changes it
- —A cash discount if you skip the invoice
- —No insurance and no guarantee in writing
- —Most of the money due before delivery
- —A start date tomorrow and no design
- —Pressure to decide while they are in the kitchen
What a grown-up quote looks like
A measured room, a package or an itemised specification, a programme, and a payment schedule you can read without a lawyer. Panelled work from £5,999 and tiled from £7,999 is a starting point after that measure, not a number shouted from the van.

Quick answers
Is the cheapest quote the one to avoid?+
Not always. A cheap quote that lists everything can be efficient. A cheap quote that says “supply and fit” and nothing else is unfinished. Compare the lines, not the total alone.
Should I pay a large deposit to secure a date?+
Be careful. A modest booking amount is normal. A demand for most of the money before any materials arrive is a warning. Our terms are written and linked from the quote.
What if two quotes differ by thousands?+
One of them is a different job. Ask which products, whose electrics, and whether waste and making-good are in. The gap is usually specification, not generosity.
